Scholarships for academic year 2023-2024

BUC has launched the Excellent Students Scholarship to expand opportunities to Egyptian students who graduated from public schools with an outstanding academic record, and who demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:
  • Egyptian student graduates from the public, experimental, STEM, and Nile schools in the academic year 2022-2023.
  • Have an outstanding secondary school academic record (academic achievers) according to university minimum grades.
  • Athletic Champions /Children of the Martyrs.
  • Demonstrate financial need and submit required documents.
  • Meet admission requirements.
  • The student should not have joined or nominated Badr University or one of the private universities.
  • The student should not have accepted or been nominated for a scholarship from a private university.

To apply for this scholarship, make sure that you have selected the scholarship check box in the BUC admissions application.
  • Fill out the scholarship application.
  • Write three desires, and the university has the right to nominate the student to one of the university’s colleges, even if it is not within his desires, and according to the places available in the university.
  • Attach the required documents. 
 
Deadline for fall 2023: September 10, 2023.
 
  • Any application submitted after the deadline will be on a waiting list pending the availability of vacant slots. Required documents:

STEPS
  • Complete and submit the scholarship application via the link.
  • Make sure to upload all required documents after entering your details on the link.
  • Applications with missing information or missing documents will be considered incomplete and will not be evaluated.
  • Follow the steps given in the attached PDF file to fill out the application and upload the required documents.
 
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 
First: documents related to the applicant
  • A copy of the high school certificate.
  • A copy of the birth certificate.
  • A copy of the applicant's national ID 
  • Documents of sports excellence in terms of world/republic championships.
  • Documents of technical excellence in terms of awards/certificates of appreciation from prestigious organizations.
 
Second: Income Proof Documents
  • A letter from Human Resources addressed to the university stating the salary terms (for each father/mother).
  • An official statement of pension in case of retirement of the father/mother.
  • A recent statement from the Social Insurance Office to prove the state of unemployment if the father/mother is unemployed.
  • Proof of unpaid leave for the father and mother, if any.
  • Recent social research shows the social and material situation of the family (Ministry of Social Affairs).
  • A recent electricity receipt showing the family's residence address.
  • A copy of the national identity card of the father/mother/siblings.
  • A copy of the birth certificate of the siblings and evidence of their enrollment in schools and universities.
Third: Other Documents:
Any other documents that the student deems necessary to attach (if needed) for example:
  • Death certificate.
  • Divorce certificate.
  • Medical reports/payment bills.
  • Insurance premium.
  • Sibling’s school/university enrollment letter, clearly stating annual tuition fees.
  • Statement of loans or installments, including schedule of payments and due date.
 
INSTRUCTIONS
 
  • Scholarship progress for one academic year (fall and spring semesters), and it is required to continue academic excellence in order to retain the scholarship.
  • Students who were accepted in the fall semester do not need to reapply in the spring semester.
  • Make sure to apply before the deadlines posted on the website.
  • The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is 10 September 2023.
  • No application will be accepted after the deadline.

  • Each application is evaluated individually and, on a case-by-case basis. In addition, we consider the amount of money the university provides for private financial aid, how much it will cost to attend the university, our enrollment goals, and our philosophy regarding the minimum amount that parents should be able to pay for educational expenses at Badr University in Cairo.

How to apply?

To effectively apply for BUC Undergraduate Program, follow the steps below:

Step One

Application

  • Fill-in the online application through the university website.
  • Attach all the required documents.
  • Application fees should be paid through E-payment. Following this, the application will be processed by the Administration, and a confirmation email and a text message will be sent to applicants.

Step Two

Admission Tests

  • British English Score Placement Test: Compulsory for all applicants. Tests are done on campus using the phone.
  • Before the test:
    – Make sure that your mobile is charged.
    – Make sure that your download the application (British Council English Score) from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Skills Test: Compulsory for applicants to the School of Applied Arts.
  • After the payment of the test fees, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicants with the date, time, and location of the test.
  • Personal Interviews: Compulsory for applicants to the School of Nursing and the School of Performing Arts. Appointments are reserved online through a screen of available dates for a personal interview. After registration, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicants with the date, time, and location of the test.

Step Three

Selection

The selection phase is done in descending order according to the total GPA and Percentage in the Secondary Stage results, for applicants who have already finished the admission tests only.

Requirements

Thanaweya Amma and Al Azhar Certificates

Applicants holding Thanaweya Amma and Al Azhar Certificates are required to submit the following documents:

  • The Original Thanaweya Amma Certificate or equivalent certified by the Egyptian foreign affairs.
  • An original birth certificate.
  • A copy of the applicant’s National ID or passport.
  • A copy of both parents’ ID or passport.
  • 6 personal photos size 4×6 with white background.
  • Number 2 military forms (for males).
  • Males (Wanted for military recruitment) should present form 6 (The form is available in the relative Police Department mentioned in their ID).

IGCSE Certificates

Applicants holding IGCSE Diplomas are required to submit the following documents:

All original documents should be authenticated from the following authorities:  The British Council – The Egyptian Foreign Affairs – The relative Educational Administration.

  • Applicant should cover a minimum of 8 subjects in O-Level with a minimum C grade.
  • The Egyptian Preparatory Education Certificate, or an academic sequence from G1 to G12 (Authenticated by the Egyptian Foreign Affairs).
  • Arabic and Religion exam results authenticated by the Educational Administration.
  • An authenticated birth certificate.
  • Number 2 military form (for males).
  • Number 6 military form for males born in 2002.
  • A copy of the student’s ID or passport.
  • A copy of both parents’ ID or passport.
  • 6 personal photos size 4×6.

American Diploma

Applicants holding American Diplomas are required to submit the following documents:

  • The original certificate. 
  • Their school GPA certificates for G10, G11, and G12 validated by the Egyptian Cultural Consultant in Washington and The School’s Educational Administration.
  • If the applicant studied abroad, his/her certificates should be validated by the Egyptian foreign affairs or the Egyptian Embassy in the relative country.
  • A letter from the School confirming that the student has successfully studied G10, G11, and G12 of the American system, certified by the Educational Administration.
  • A letter from the Amideast- Dokki, certifying that the school is certified by The American Schools Association.
  • SAT Certificate validated by The Amideast- Dokki, in addition to the Username and Password.
  • Egyptian Preparatory Certificate, or a year by year academic sequence from G1 to G12 (authenticated by the educational administrations inside Egypt or the Foreign – outside Egypt.
  • For certificates from inside Egypt– Arabic and Religion exams (Thanawya Amma) should be authenticated by the Educational Administrations.
  • An authenticated birth certificate.
  • Number 2 military form (for males).
  • Number 6 military form for males born in 2002.
  • A copy of the student’s ID or passport.
  • A copy of both parents’ ID or passport.
  • 6 personal photos size 4×6.

Transfer Students’ Regulations

  • The transfer student’s GPA should not be less than 2.0. In case the number of applicants exceeds the school capacity, there will be an internal screening and coordination according to their GPA.
  • Courses with a total percentage of less than 60% in the applicant’s transcript will not be equated or accredited.
  • The student’s equated hours should not exceed 50% of the school’s credit hours, given that the student proceeds his studies in the school to which he is transferred three years for Scientific Schools and two years for Theoretical Schools.

Rules for Gap Years

  • Maximum Gap Years for Scientific Schools are two years only.

How To Authenticate Your Certificates?

Authentication means validation and confirmation.

All certificates should be validated first by the issuing institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the relative country, and the Egyptian Embassy in that country. Otherwise, certificates should be validated by the Embassy of the country from which the applicant acquired the certificate in Egypt, then from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Certificates from foreign countries should be validated and authenticated by the Cultural Consulate of the relative country.

Non-authenticated certificates or those that are not validated by the Egyptian Embassies abroad or the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be disregarded.

Honor/Top Students

  • Top 30 students in Egypt in the Thanawiya Amma Certificate. (90%)
  • Top 5 Students of the IG and the American Diploma. (90%)

Athletic

  • Students who attain first place in an Arab, African, or International Championship for the year of admission or the following year. (25%)
  • Students who attain the second place in an Arab, African, or International Championship for the year of admission or the following year. (15%)
  • Students who attain the third place in an Arab, African, or International Championship for the year of admission or the following year. (10%)
  • Students who ranked first in the country for the year of admission or the following year. (5%)

University’s Top-Ranking Students

  • The student ranking first at the university, with the highest GPA. (60%)
  • The student ranking first in the academic year in each school. (50%)
  • The student ranking first on the program. (Multiple programs) (40%)
  • The student ranking second on the program or class in schools providing only one program. (25%)

Future Schools’ Graduates

Graduates of the Future Schools, throughout their studying. (20%)

University Employees’ Children

BUC Employees’ Children (Only during their employment period).  (20%)

Children of Academic Staff Members and Artists

  • Children of an Academic Staff member, noting that one of the parents is currently employed in an Egyptian University. (15%)
  • Children of Artists (one of the parents), given that he/she is a member of the corresponding art syndicate in the faculties of cinematic and applied arts. The discount is given throughout their studies. (25%)

Death of the Parent/Guardian

Students with a deceased parent, providing that the death took place during the student’s enrollment at BUC. The discount continues throughout their studying, and that after studying each case. (Max. of 30%)

Siblings Discount

Students with a sibling enrolled in BUC. The discount is given to the new sibling/s, as well as the sibling/s registered at the university throughout their studies. (5%)

Children of the Martyrs

A discount is granted to the sons of martyrs from the police and the army starting the second academic year and continues all through their studies.

Siblings of Martyrs

A discount is granted to the Army and Policemen Martyrs starting the second academic year and continues all through their studying. (10%)

General Rules:

  • Students offered a discount should acquire a minimum CGPA C.
  • It is not allowed to combine two applicable discounts. The higher discount will be applied.
  • Students offered the top-ranking discount should acquire a minimum CGPA of 3.4.
  • The programs’ top-ranking discount will only be applied to programs with more than 15 students.
