Technology, Innovation, Commercialization Office (TICO)
TICO (Technology, Innovation, Commercialization Office) motivates the role of research and innovation inside the university and connects the university with the private sector to find innovative and technological solutions for industrial problems and issues related to the demands. TICO supports innovation and technology in areas that empower entrepreneurship and establish R&D projects.
Activities
Grants and International Cooperation Office (GICO):
The GICO Unit offers guidance for researchers from different fields and sectors in finding possible funding opportunities for their research ideas.
GICO also provides all kinds of pre-award services that include: Define potential funding local and international opportunities for international research projects; finding the appropriate partners; proposal writing; consortium establishment; budget preparation; submission; contract negotiation and other related activities. On the other hand, the GICO unit will provide post-award services for university professors, researchers, and entrepreneurs. These services will be offered to projects teams since the start date of the granted project and will continue throughout the whole project duration until the approval of the final report (periodical technical & financial reports; implementation of project activities; preparation of supporting documents for donors; monitoring the handover of deliverables and projects progress.Â
Expected Outcomes:
The new GICO will work closely with different national and international organizations, associations, and future frameworks programs (i.e. Horizon 2020, Erasmus Plus) that promote research and education. The Unit has a database of donors, partners and researchers, categorized (national-international, themes, priority). GICO will cooperate and respond to the analytical studies generated by the University Research &Innovation Committee (BRIC).
Technology Innovation Support Center (TISC):
The Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) is responsible for assisting academic staff, researchers, and entrepreneurs in handling intellectual property (IP) resulting from their research in a way that serves the community.Â
This includes managing IP rights of shared generated knowledge among researchers and the different academic and industrial entities; preparing and executing confidentiality agreements; drafting patent applications for products, processes; registration of trademarks; preparation of IP agreements for consortium of collaborative multi-partner funded projects, and other relevant services.
The TISC Unit is also responsible for the development and the implementation of the University intellectual property (IP) policy and serves as a focal point for the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and Ministry of Scientific Research.

The core purpose of TTO is to meet and surpass stakeholder expectations via designing its technology transfer strategies to meet its core purpose through identifying core products and customers. Technology Transfer Office aims at making the successful future of the university and a close and successful partnership with the private sector. The vision of TTO at BUC is to be recognized as a class leader in helping its creative scientists and researchers to convert their promising ideas into products and services that positively impact the society and country. BUC-TTO’s mission is to help scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into valuable and feasible products and services.Â
