Meet the Dean
Dr. Adly Sabbour
Dr. Adly Sabbour is the Dean of the School of Physical Therapy at BUC. He has been a professor of Physical Therapy at Cairo University for over 20 years, and he was the Head of the Department for Physical Therapy for Women Health at Cairo University for four years.
Dr. Adly is a board member of the Egyptian Society of Hemophilia, and the head of the Egyptian Musculoskeletal Group, and one of the founders of the Middle East Musculoskeletal Group.
Dr. Sabbour carried out a lot of voluntary activities with several national and international organizations including WHO and WFH. Dr. Adly has a rich background in physical therapy services (Women Health, Pelvic Dysfunction, Neural Rehab) as well as quality assurance and accreditation of education undergraduates’ programs, postgraduates’ programs, continuous education, and professional certification. Moreover, he performed a lot of consultancies in many countries in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Europe.

Meet the Vice Dean
Dr. Hanan Mekawy
Dr. Hanan Mekawy is the current Vice Dean of the Physical Therapy School at BUC. Dr. Hanan is a professor of physical therapy since 2013 and was acting as a Chairperson of the Physical Therapy Department for Women’s Health at the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University.
She had a lot of significant professional and academic experiences as a professor of physical therapy that allowed her to teach in many of the Egyptian Physical Therapy schools in undergraduate, postgraduates as well as continuing education programs.
Dr. Hanan was also acting as a Director of the Professional Doctor Program at Cairo University. During her academic work, Dr. Hanan performed a lot of activities to enhance the international relations and dual cooperation programs in both Cairo University and BUC.

Physical therapists are movement experts who optimize the quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education. Our physical therapy program will prepare you to become a compassionate, ethical practitioner who will help patients to reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. We produce a highly effective education program that graduates a unique physical therapist who is competitive nationally and internationally. Additionally, our program is committed to building international partnerships focused on manual therapy, neuromuscular rehabilitation, and cardiovascular rehabilitation.
Dean’s Word
The school of Physical Therapy at BUC was established in 2014 offering a high level of educational and community services. The college has a highly qualified and cooperative staff who are participating in educational services, scientific research, and international publications.
We are providing our students with the most updated theoretical and practical experiences enabling them to incorporate into the medical society efficiently while improving the health profession and patient outcomes.
The school of physical therapy has a clear mission of seeking excellence and leadership among the faculties in Egypt and the Middle East. The school is joining forces with Winston Salem State University (WSSU), North Carolina, USA, and Virginia Commonwealth University, USA to continuously conduct programs and special courses for our BUC students and academic staff focused on enhancing academic and professional hand-on skills.
All our efforts are utilized efficiently to graduate a unique physical therapist honoring our university and the society of physical therapy in Egypt and the Middle East.

Facilities
School of Physical Therapy premises:
- The school of Physical Therapy comprises 4 floors with central air-conditioners.
- This building includes:
- Many Lecture Halls, laboratories, classes, and staff rooms are sufficient for the number of students shown from the calculation of student capacity. Each classroom has comfortable seats, a whiteboard, a data show device, a display screen, a microphone, Wi-Fi, and central air conditioning.
- Places for open exhibitions of student projects in the loopy and on every floor.
- The Campus central library includes many up-to-date books and publications in a relaxing environment conducive to studying. There are comfortable seating areas, group study areas, and quiet and private study rooms.
- In addition, central halls and stands at the university can be used when necessary, and they are all equipped for cultural, artistic, and sports activities.
- The university offers a learning management system (LMS) that supports communication between students and faculty members. Through LMS, students can submit an assignment, solve online quizzes, download all course materials, and follow up on their attendance status.
- The university has different healthcare facilities that are equipped with a variety of medical equipment. These healthcare facilities include (general clinics, dental care clinics, and physiotherapy clinics).
- There is a diverse food court with groceries, restaurants, and coffee shops that offer all kinds of food and cold and hot drinks. In addition, the university has a central copy center, a bank branch, ATM Machines, and a flower shop.

- The School has computers equipped for all faculty members.
- The School concluded an agreement for scientific cooperation with international universities (American Winston Salem University) and international research centers. (American University of Virginia) through which joint diplomas are awarded to international universities.

- The School of Physiotherapy, Badr University, has a group of advanced research laboratories equipped with the latest scientific equipment. It follows the university’s central laboratory system and provides services to researchers and students.

Job Profiles
Physical therapy graduates can work in numerous hospitals in the outpatient clinic or in-patient. They are to assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury also, treat pre & post-operative cases that require physical therapy and work inside the ICU. Our talented therapists are also vital in many rehabilitation centers and clinics, especially where manual therapy prevails.
Physical Therapy Practitioner
The graduate registers for a physical therapy license from the Ministry of Health and General Physical Therapy Syndicate just after graduation and earns the title of Physical Therapy Practitioner.
Physical Therapy Specialist
After five years of graduation or acquiring a master’s degree, the graduate earns the Specialist title.
Physical Therapy Consultant
After 20 years of graduation or acquiring a master’s degree with 15 years of experience or acquiring a Ph.D. degree together with a minimum of 10 years of experience, the Graduate earns the Consultant title.
