Dr. George Nubar is the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at Badr University (since September 2024). Previously, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Design & Creative Arts at Ahram Canadian University (2020-2024) and acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at Helwan University (2014-2017), where he also held the position of professor in the Printing, Publishing & Packaging Department.
Dr. George Nubar holds a Bachelor’s degree (1987) in Printing, Publishing & Packaging from Helwan University. He further pursued his passion for printing technology in the UK, earning a diploma in Offset Lithographic Printing (1992) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Printing & Publishing (1997) from the London College of Printing (now part of the University of the Arts London). Additionally, he holds an M.A. Degree in Digital Imaging Technologies (1998) and a prestigious joint PhD in Applied & Graphic Arts (1999) from London College of Printing and Helwan University.
He is a partner at Nubar Printing Press, a family-owned business established in 1939. He is also a highly sought-after Technical Consultant in various printing fields, including packaging, security printing, and digital printing. His expertise extends beyond Egypt, as he has served as a visiting lecturer at numerous international universities, academies, and institutes.
He is actively involved in shaping the printing landscape in Egypt. He is currently the head of The Egyptian Digital Printing Committee. He is a board member of the Governmental Printing Offices, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) in Egypt, and Al Amiria Press, Egypt’s oldest governmental printing house. He is further recognized as a member of the prestigious National Committee of the Egyptian Banknotes Printing and the Egyptian Higher Committee of Stamps.
He is a prolific author, having published 13 technical books on offset printing, digital printing, quality control, and security printing. He has also generously contributed to academia by participating on the supervisory committees of 44 M.Sc. and 35 PhD research degrees. His dedication is further evident by his active participation in numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Prof. Tamer Farouk Khalifa is the Vice Dean of the School of Applied Arts at BUC and a Professor of Textile Quality Control and Testing Textile Spinning in the Weaving and Knitting Department.
Prof. Tamer was the Former Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies & Research at the Faculty of Applied Arts – Helwan University.
Prof. Tamer has academic and research experience for almost 25 years in the field of textile engineering, textile materials, textile machinery, nonwovens, textile lab and testing, textile preparation and environmental impact. In addition, he has several publications in the field of technical and industrial textiles, nonwovens, textile quality control, education quality, and textile physics.
Prof. Tamer is also working as a Reviewer for several journals in the field of textiles, and as an Editorial Board in others. He has been the Textile Program Academic Coordinator (Undergraduate program) at the Faculty of Applied Arts – Helwan University for more than 3 years (The Program was accredited by Naqaa). Supervising several Master, and Ph.D. thesis related to textiles, in addition to participating in several research projects.
In addition to his experience as an ISO 17025 (For laboratory accreditation) and ISO 17020 (For Inspection bodies)– Lead assessor and Technical assessor and Expert – EGAC (Egyptian accreditation council) and assessing and accrediting many Textile labs locally and internationally according to ISO 17025. Prof. Tamer is also a member of both the Egyptian Engineering syndicate and Applied Arts Designers Syndicate, and an ex-board member of Applied Arts Syndicate.

The School of Applied Arts offers seven undergraduate programs with a new perspective that aims to encourage the creative process in design, while creating close links to culture and the local community, and interest in exchanging experiences and cultures with artistic communities and experiences from around the world.

The classrooms are well equipped with comfort seats, a whiteboard, a data show device, a display screen, a microphone, headphones, Wi-Fi, and central air conditioning.
The central library, based on Campus, includes a large number of innovative Applied Arts books and publications set out in a relaxing environment, conducive to studying. There are comfortable seating areas, group study areas, a silent study area and private study rooms.
There are central halls and stands at the university that can be used when necessary, and they are all equipped for cultural, artistic and sports activities
