The Badr University Centre for Global Affairs (CGA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, officially launched its 2026 Summer Internship on 14 July 2026. The five-week programme will continue until 16 August 2026, bringing together students and recent graduates from Badr University and several leading Egyptian universities.
Designed as an open and inclusive initiative, the internship welcomes participants from diverse academic backgrounds and institutions. By bringing together students from Badr University alongside peers from other leading Egyptian universities, the programme creates opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional networking. This approach reflects the Centre’s vision of a think tank that not only advances research and analysis but also fosters dialogue and multidisciplinary engagement to address regional and global issues.
The internship programme features a series of sessions led by distinguished academics and practitioners, providing participants with practical insights drawn from extensive professional experience. The programme commenced with a keynote address by Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Keshky, Director of the Centre for Global Affairs, who discussed the role of think tanks in Egypt and internationally. The opening session was followed by a workshop on professional CV writing delivered by Dr. Dina Jaccob from the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations.
On 19 July, the Centre welcomed Prof. Dr. Noha Bakr for a session on national security. Prof. Bakr serves as Professor of Political Science at The American University in Cairo, formerly served as Assistant to the Minister of International Cooperation responsible for economic cooperation with Canada and the Americas, and has acted as an adviser to international organizations, including the African Union.
Continuing the programme, Dr. Yassmin Radwan conducted a research workshop on 22 July, introducing participants to the fundamentals of academic research, including topic selection, hypothesis formulation, and research methodology. The session established the foundation for the research projects that interns will develop throughout the remainder of the programme.
The Centre extends its appreciation to Prof. Dr. Salwa Thabet Mekky, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, as well as to the faculty members and teaching assistants whose contributions continue to support the success of the programme.
The internship sessions will continue twice weekly through 16 August, culminating in presentations of original research projects prepared by the participating interns.
