Dr Hassan El Kalla is an internationally recognized leader in public health, education, and business development. He is the founder and chairman of Cairo for Investment and Real Estate Development (CIRA), a registered company on the Egyptian Stock Exchange. CIRA is a partner member in the Global Compact, an initiative developed under the leadership of the former United Nations Secretary-General, the Honorable Kofi Anan.
Dr Hassan is the founder and chairman of Futures Educational Systems (FES), the largest consortium of private PreK-12 schools in Egypt. FES was established in 1992 with the mission to enhance the quality and equity of education for all in Egypt. Presently, the FES schools serve more than 30,000 students across multiple governates in Egypt. Dr Hassan is also the founder and chairman of Edu Systems International (ESI), an education training and consulting organization, the founder and president of the Egyptian Society for Quality in Health Care (ESQUA), as well as the president of GS1 Egypt.
Dr Hassan was the First Undersecretary of the Curative Care Sector of the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt. He was a key member of the Health Policy Committee which laid the foundation for health sector reform in Egypt and the reengineering of the Ministry of Health and Population. Additionally, he supervised and spearheaded the implementation of the Primary Health Care Benefits Package in Egypt. The work of which he is most proud has been serving in a voluntary capacity as a prominent member of the International Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Society of Cultural Exchange (AFS Egypt), an organization providing approximately 12,000 grants annually to facilitate the achievement of peace, brotherhood, and enlightened dialogues around the world.
In the launching of BUC, Dr Hassan’s vision has been to serve, support, and sustain a continuum of high quality education to the people of his beloved Egypt and beyond.
