Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan El Kalla, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf El-Shihy, President of Badr University in Cairo (BUC), Badr University in Cairo hosted a high-level scientific and cultural seminar on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the headquarters of the BUC Centre for Global Affairs (CGA). The event brought together distinguished academic and leadership figures from Egypt and India.
The seminar was held through fruitful cooperation between the BUC Centre for Global Affairs and a selected group of the university’s schools and centres, including:
- School of Humanities and Social Sciences
- School of Political Science
- School of Languages and Translation
- School of Law
- School of Business and Economics
- Centre for Professional Development and Continuing Education
BUC was honoured to host a distinguished delegation of professors from the University of Delhi, each contributing valuable academic insights.
Prof. Dr. Sohan Choudhary
Professor at the University of Delhi, President of the Youth for Global Peace and Sustainable Development Foundation, Ambassador for Peace at the Universal Peace Federation (UPF/USA), and recipient of the Global Sustainability Leadership Award.
Lecture Title:
“From Ancient Civilizations to Modern Youth: Building Global Peace Across Egypt, India and the World”
Key Highlights:
The lecture explored the deep civilizational ties between Egypt and India and highlighted the role of youth as a driving force in promoting international harmony and navigating the challenges of the modern world.
Prof. Dr. Urvashi Sharma
Professor at the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, and an international expert in Human Resource Management and Corporate Social Responsibility, with academic contributions at Oxford Brookes University (UK) and City University of New York (USA).
Lecture Title:
“Leadership and Its Impact on Building a Sustainable Global Future”
Key Highlights:
The lecture presented insights into transformational leadership and organizational behaviour, highlighting models of global management and the role of effective leadership in supporting economic and social sustainability.
The seminar also featured distinguished Egyptian experts and academics who enriched the discussions through their professional and academic experience:
- Dr. Hassan El-Hayawan — Professor of Marketing and Management, Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University.
- Ms. Hanaa El-Hellaly — Managing Director of Al-Khair Microfinance Company, Chairperson of Aspire Capital Holding Company, and former CEO of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.
The event was directed and organized by Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Keshky, Director of the BUC Centre for Global Affairs, Adjunct Professor of Political Science, and former Assistant Minister of Defence.
The session was moderated by Ms. Rawda Saeed Ali, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Strategy and Institutional Development, who raised several key discussion points, including:
“What is the role of both universities (Egyptian and Indian) in developing and educating youth? And what should Badr University and Delhi University offer them to prepare them for future leadership?”
The seminar featured in-depth discussions and constructive dialogue on several key themes, including:
- Egyptian–Indian Relations: Emphasizing the historical and civilizational connections between the two nations.
- The Role of Youth: Highlighting the importance of youth in promoting international peace and addressing contemporary global challenges.
- Leadership and Sustainability: Examining the role of transformational leadership in building a sustainable global economy through practical examples.
- Academic Partnership: Underscoring the importance of strengthening cooperation between Egyptian and Indian universities in scientific research, knowledge exchange, and leadership development.
The seminar witnessed notable attendance from the deans of participating schools, faculty members, and students, contributing to a dynamic and engaging academic atmosphere.
